Hurricane Relief

When disaster strikes, it is local churches that provide the first response to their communities. This basic understanding—that disaster response is local—forms the foundation for UMCOR’s US disaster training and response.

When responding to a disaster in the United States, UMCOR provides the following four things:

Financial Assistance. If the bishop of the affected conference contacts UMCOR, an emergency grant may be sent.

UMCOR Responds to Hurricane Harvey

UMCOR Responds to Hurricane Harvey

Dear Friend of UMCOR,

As the waters recede from Houston and other communities affected by Hurricane Harvey’s record-breaking rainfall and flooding, UMCOR volunteers are still on the ground for the relief and recovery efforts in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana.

Donations already made to UMCOR have brought much care and comfort to those affected by this disaster. If you made a gift, thank you!
