Learn to Read Music

Learn to Read Music!   April 30 – June 4

Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm – 7:15pm in the Choir Room

Have you ever considered joining the handbell choir or the Chancel Choir but hesitated to do so because you don’t read music?  Or do you currently just “play by ear” and like to connect what you’re seeing on the music with what you’re playing or singing? Beginning Apr. 30, I am offering a 6 week series on Tuesday nights (6:00-7:15pm in the Choir Room) for any interested in learning the basics of musical notation.

Obviously, it would take longer than 6 weeks to teach all aspects of music! However, these classes will provide a basic understanding of music notation and rhythms; this foundation will be a great jumping-off point for further learning within one of our music ministry ensembles.  (We ALWAYS have openings in the Chancel Choir and we do have room for additional ringers as well - we currently have more bells than we have players!)

This opportunity is open to the community as well– feel free to invite anyone you think might be interested. The class materials are primarily geared toward adults (anyone in high school or older).  No prior knowledge or experience with music is required.

Please register at https://searcyfumc.churchcenter.com/people/forms/39112 or sign up on the bulletin board outside the choir room. (An estimated number of attendees is needed to provide adequate handouts.)
