Membership

Membership at Searcy First is not like membership in many organizations where you gain “privileges” when you join. Membership in Christ’s church is a call to servanthood.

Baptism is foundational for membership in The United Methodist Church. If you have never been baptized then we will help you understand the significance of baptism and prepare you for this wonderful event in the life of the church. If you were baptized as an infant or small child and have not made a profession of faith and been confirmed, then you will prepare to reaffirm your baptism when you take the membership vows.

Through membership you profess or reaffirm your faith in Jesus Christ through the baptismal covenant and undertake sacred vows with God and the community of faith and promise to be held accountable to those commitments. Through the membership vows you accept God’s invitation to freedom and the power to turn away from evil; profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; profess the Christian faith as contained in the Bible; seek to live a Christian life; and to faithfully participate in the ministries of the church by

(1) your prayers,

(2) your presence,

(3) your gifts,

(4) your service, and

(5) your witness, that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.
