FUMC Administrative Assistant/Receptionist

First United Methodist Church

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1 year experience as an administrative assistant or experience in a similar field.
  • High School Graduate or higher level of education. 
  • Ability to learn and operate office computer software, Quickbooks, and office equipment. 
  • Possess excellent communication skills, problem solving skills, and ability to work collaboratively with church staff.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Answer and screen all incoming calls, routing them to appropriate departments when available and taking messages as needed.
  • Answers information requests and fills out any necessary paperwork. 
  • Manages the church’s schedule and calendar, accounting for all religious holidays and events in church facilities. 
  • Answer office and outside doors
  • Enter new visitor information into church database. Manage database of existing members and update as necessary.
  • Work with Marketing and Communications Director to assist in preparation and printing of bulletins and church newsletter. 
  • Respond to and manages all incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Maintains an orderly and clean office and filing system.
  • Assist Church Administrator with Quickbooks as assigned 
  • Manages office supplies, keeps track of inventory and purchases more items as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information learned as a result of working with church family and staff.
  • Reports directly to Church Administrator 
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

SKILLS

Possess excellent people skills, communications skills, and the ability to work well in a small office environment.

  • Bookkeeping skills required.
  • Experienced in computer software, Quickbooks, and other office equipment.

 

Hours and Compensation: The position is full time and salaried. The salary range is $23,000-$25,000.

Vacation: Vacation days shall be according to church employee policy.

Probationary Period: The initial 90-day period of employment shall be considered probationary. At any time during this period, the employee or the Senior Pastor, with the approval of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee, may terminate employment with or without reason.

Employment at Will: This position is considered an “at will” position. The employee or employer may terminate the employment relationship at any time or with our cause.

Background Check: Prior to the entry on the duty date, the employee must undergo a criminal background check and sexual/harassment investigation according to the Safe Sanctuary compliance and State Licensing standards.

Modification: This job description is subject to being modified as needed by the Sr. Pastor in consultation with the Staff-Parish Relations Committee.
