Letter from Bro. David

Dear Members and Friends of Searcy 1st,

I trust you are enjoying a meaningful season of summer! This note is to help us all stay informed on some important matters.

First, an update on the action of our July 1st Church Conference. The Building Committee Chair, Dewey Shanks, made the motion that: "In light of our Cornerstone Capital Stewardship Campaign's $3,500,000 total commitments (over a three-year contribution term); And, a new projected building program cost of $4,143,000 (projected potential savings of $764,125 realized by changing contractors to Hart Cone Construction); The Building Committee moves that we direct our architectural firm (Roark Perkins Perry Yelvington) to commence developing construction documents and receive bids on the project. The results of the bids will be brought back to a future Church Conference for review and action." The motion passed unanimously. The Building Committee is meeting with the architect and contractors this week and the work is underway.

Second, the Church Conference voted to make Sunday, July 15th First Fruits Offering for the Cornerstone Campaign. The First Fruits Offering officially marks the date our giving begins. Some have already begun giving, and what a blessing! For the most of us, First Fruits Offering is the day we will place our first gift on the altar for the Cornerstone Campaign. So, come prepared this Sunday and help us get started in a powerful, faithful way. Whether you are giving your first weekly gift for the 156-weeks-giving-term or making a one-time gift to the campaign, come prepared to be counted in this historic day of giving at Searcy 1st.

Third, please take your opportunity to thank Ryan Russell for all he means to our church. Celeste Letchworth stepped down from the position of interim Minister of Music due to the recent and untimely death of her marvelous husband, the Reverend Tom Letchworth. Our deepest condolences continue with the Letchworth's. Ryan agreed to step up and complete Celeste's term (which was scheduled to conclude on July 15th). Having Ryan serve in this capacity is a true blessing. Be sure to let him know you appreciate him!

Fourth, (and to continue the music ministry path) Dr. Tish Kennedy Davenport will be in her office beginning Monday, July 16, 2018. Her first Sunday in worship with us is July 22nd. Tish is a tremendous follower of Christ and a most capable and accomplished Minister of Music. Music is integral to the life of Searcy 1st and I believe that Tish will lead our music ministry to new heights and new strength. Pray for Tish. Welcome and encourage Tish. Good things are in store!

Finally, I hope you, my sisters and brothers in the Lord, are seeing the Lord at work! Our ministry staff (Rev. Blake Schrepfer, Associate Pastor; Shane Staton, Minister to Youth; Catherine Vest, Minister to Children; Ryan Russell, Gathering Worship Leader/Organist; Tish Davenport, Minister of Music; Billie Cornett, Weekday Children's Ministries) is second to none. Our support staff (Blaine Baxley, Administrator; Kim Houser, Communications; Dianne Burkett, Receptionist; David Chandler, Custodian) keep all of the nuts and bolts of church life in order. I'm more than grateful for the people I get to work with day to day. I am so deeply grateful for the privilege of sharing life and faith with you, the Searcy 1st Family. Together, we are building lives, building facilities, building ministries and faithfully building the corner of The Kingdom God has entrusted to us.

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to give me a call (268-5896) or send me an email (dorr1974@gmail.com). I would welcome the chance to visit with you.

Grace to all,

Brother David
