The Rev. Jesse James

The Rev. Jesse James

Associate Pastor
jesse.james@arumc.org

Jesse joins us from Weiner and Fisher United Methodist Churches. His wife is Charley. They share 3 dogs, Spartacus, Varro and Winter. The SPRC unanimously agreed to and endorsed Jesse's appointment. He begins his ministry in Searcy on July 1, 2019.

Jesse is a graduate of NLR Parkview High School. He attended The University of Arkansas at Monticello where he earned the Associate of Arts and Bachelor of General Studies degrees. He earned his Master of Divinity degree from Memphis Theological Seminary. Jesse was Commissioned as a Provisional Elder (his next step toward Ordination as Elder) at this year's session of Annual Conference.

About himself, Jessie says he loves Sports/athletics (football, basketball, soccer, martial arts, working out, etc.); games (board games, card games, video games, etc.); books/reading; watching movies, going to sporting events, etc.; animals and the outdoors; and, just being around people and having fun.

Three things he values about pastoral ministry in The United Methodist Church are: Building relationships, sharing the love of God through word and action helping people find joy in life

A highlight from his past appointment he shared is "We transformed an old building that had fallen apart into a youth center where we revitalized the youth group.  From there we have youth group where we feed, deliver a message, and fellowship every Sunday with about 15 to 20 sisters and brothers in Christ.  We also used the Youth Center as a place to teach Aikido, a defensive martial art.  This group has answered the call to be active in local mission where we began weekly mission work out in the Weiner and Fisher Communities. I am proud to see how God has worked in and through the Weiner/Fisher Charge."

When asked what excited him about working with the church to create vitality and to make disciples of Jesus Christ, he says: "Building everlasting relationships and becoming one with the community of faith. Being involved in the life of the church and life-giving ministries that are lived out by the church.  Extending the love of God to the people of Searcy First United Methodist Church and the city that we are called to serve. Being able to fulfill the duties required of me as the Associate Pastor, a servant of the Lord, and a child of God."

We are pleased to welcome and support Jesse James as our incoming Associate Pastor.
